Tata Computer Center was assigned as a division of the first Tata Services and their chief business was to supply computer services to other companies. The first General Manager was Fakir Chand Khoi, who was brought in from the Tata Electric Group. This reformed the company name, which is known the TCS or Tata Consultancy Service. TCS created software and the first copy was exported in the 1970s. It was converted then to create the HIS (Hospital Information System) from Burroughs Medium System known as COBOL from BSS (Burroughs Small Systems) COBOL. The project continued completely into TCS Mumbai or Bombay on the ICL Computer in the early 1900s. During the 80s, Tata’s sister firm made up more than 60 percent of the India software industries and exports. Around 4 Million was shared between 20 or more firms. During the early 80s and almost in the middle part of the 80s, TCS setup another office, the SEEPZ (Santacruz Export Processing Zone) in Mumbai. Surges occurred during the 90s for the TCS group which resulted in extreme orders for recruits driven by the IT Company. Around the same time, the company had to reinvent the organization and revert to Software Company. It started to accelerate and revenue was streaming so TCS combined with RFID geared up to employ the 3-prong strategy. This started the development of innovative products that would bring in more revenue for the company, and for the group RFID.
